Gerd Leufert

Biography

Illustrations, trademarks, textiles. Born 9 June 1914 in Klaipeda, Lithuania. Studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Hannover and in Mainz, with later study at the Akademie der bildenden Künste, Munich. 1951: living in Munich; moved to Venezuela where he became a distinguished designer and educator. 1958: taught at the Pratt Institute, New York. 1959: returned to Venezuela.
