Biography

Book jackets. Born 1913 in Hamburg. First studies at the Berlin Vereinigte Staatsschulen für freie und Angewandte Kunst: a teacher was Ernst Böhm. His main education (of 3 years) was at the Stuttgart Kunstakademie where an influential teacher was F.H.E. Schneidler. From 1937: freelance.in Hamburg, designing especially book jackets and covers. ‘In the best tradition of the Schneidler School.’ (Hölscher, 1950)
