Josef Apportín

Biography

Born 2 July 1922 in Munich. 1939-42: studied at the Munich Akademie, and in Berlin. 1941: awarded the Albrecht-Dürer Prize. 1947-51: taught at a private school in Hameln. 1952: formed, with others, the group ‘arche’. 1955-7: had his own art studio. 1958-60: designed advertisements for the textile manufacturer OKA-Teppichwerke. 1970: member of the Magic Circle of Germany.
