Hans Wagner

Biography

Certificates, letterheads, type designs, murals. Born 1894 in Munich. First trained as a book printer, later studied drawing at the Kunstinstitut under Peter von Halm, with further study in painting at the Munich Akademie under Ludwig von Herterich. He later created prints, drawings and murals – one of the latter for the church at Ottering, Lower Bavaria, and another with von Herterich. 1937: living in Altenburg. Designer of the typefaces, all issued by Ludwig & Mayer: Altenburger-Gotisch (1928), Wolfram (1930), Welt-Antiqua (also spelled Weltantiqua, Welt-antiqua; 1931).
