Kurt Scheele

Biography

Woodcuts. Born 19 May 1905 in Frankfurt a.M. Trained in typesetting, printing, bookbinding and lithography; studied lettering and drawing at the Fachschule für Buchgewerbe, Frankfurt a.M.: teachers included Albert Windisch and Rudolf Koch, and graphics at the Frankfurt Kunstschule and painting in the Bloch-Kerschbaum school in Berlin. By 1929: began woodcut illustrations. By 1934 his paintings and prints were in museums at Cologne, Duisburg-Essen and Düren. Member of the North German artists group Der Keil.
