Walter von Wecus

Biography

Painter, set designs. Born 8 July 1893 in Düsseldorf. Studied in Düsseldorf Akademie (a teacher was Peter Behrens), Munich, Berlin and Paris. War artist during World War I. From 1925: taught set design, stage painting at Düsseldorf Akademie. 1920s: artistic adviser to Schauspielhauses, Düsseldorf; Stadttheaters, Bonn; Staatstheater, Munich. After the war he became adviser to theatres in Düsseldorf, Bonn and Munich. His paintings were exhibited in numerous German museums. Died 15 December 1977 in Neuss.
