Biography

Typography, type design, lettering. Born 9 July 1905 in Rochlitz (Sa.). 1922-4: studied at the Dresden Kunstakademie. 1924-5: studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule, Offenbach a.M. 1925-30: studied at the Vereinigte Staatsschulen für freie und angewandte Kunst, Berlin: teachers included E.R. Weiss and O.H.W. Hadank. 1930-41: freelanced in Berlin. Designed book jackets and covers for various publishers. From 1946: lived in Stuttgart. Designed the typeface Globus- Kursiv (Stempel, 1932).
